You do not necessarily need to be a trucker to be part of BTA we have many members who participate from other occupations, so if its immigration, emigration, jobs work permits, residency, visa's, Canadian province's PNP (Provincial Nominee Programs) or anything working abroad your interested in, then your input is welcomed.

Bulk Carriers manager pleads guilty in immigrant workers case

The operations manager of a trucking company in Cornwall, P.E.I., has pleaded guilty to charges under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in connection with the company's failure to cover the flight expenses of some of its immigrant workers. Mike Schutt of Bulk Carriers Ltd. pleaded guilty in provincial court in Charlottetown Tuesday to charges of misrepresentation and counselling to misrepresent. Story courtesy CBC.ca news

Day 4 and Europe's airlines and airports question the need for flight bans

Two bodies that represent most of Europe's airlines and airports say they question the extent of the flight restrictions currently imposed. European airlines have carried out test flights to see if it is safe to fly through the ash. Millions of travellers have been hit by four days of air travel disruption and millions of Euro's in lost revenue for operators. The disruption is said to be greater than the shutdown that followed the 9/11 attacks.

The Icelandic volcano eruption continues to wreak havoc for airlines and passengers alike not only closing UK airspace but most of Europe too. Spain is the latest country to close its airspace at 18.00 GMT today Sat 17th April. Thousands of passengers remain stranded throughout the world with airlines cancelling all flights to the UK indefinitely. Read more.......


UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown calls general election on 6th May

He said Britain was on the "road to recovery" and urged voters not to put it "at risk". David Cameron said the Conservative Party offered a "fresh start". Nick Clegg leader of the Liberal dems said only his party offered "a real change".

UK Customs Officials Find Seven Million Cigarettes In Lorry

An investigation has been launched after seven million cigarettes were illegally imported into Britain. UK Customs officials found the haul in a freezer unit on a lorry at Newhaven ferry port in East Sussex. The vehicle had travelled from Dieppe in France..............

Truck driver arrested after 12 people were injured in a pile-up on the M6 in Warwickshire has been released on bail.

The 31-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following Thursday evening's crash on the southbound carriageway near Rugby. .............

UK Truckers Fit Cab Cameras.

Truckers are fighting back against "crash for cash" fake accident scammers and cheats by fitting cameras in their cabs. They hope the £199 devices will thwart fraudsters who cause life-threatening shunts to get insurance payouts. Lack of Snow, Milder Temperatures than usual, is this really winter in Canada.

Ottawa anada has been grey, drab and mild to a point that astonishes even Dave Phillips, a senior climatologist with Environment Canada. “I never thought I’d ever see the day where Washington US had 50-per-cent more snow than Ottawa,” Phillips said. “You’re known as the snowiest national capital in the world and you’re going to lose that reputation.” Starting Nov. 5, this winter’s total snowfall, so far, is a paltry 96.4 centimetres. More Than Half of Trucks Stopped Found To Have Defects In Checks On M1 Motorway

A total of 30 vehicles were stopped on the M1 motorway between 3pm and 11pm, and were escorted to the Crick weighbridge site where they were checked by representatives from organisations including Northamptonshire Police, Leicestershire Constabulary and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).

US operator Arrow Trucking ceases trading

Arrow last week stranded hundreds of its drivers around the country. Many of them found out their employer was shutting down when their company-issued fuel cards wouldn't work and had to arrange a long bus ride home. On Tuesday, the company abruptly told its headquarters staff to pack up and go home, allegedly the US based flatbed carrier broke federal law by not giving its employees 60 days' notice about its precarious financial state...........Read more here

Canada immigration overzealous, out of order or just enforcing the law?

A German and British trucker have been refused temporary work permits at Halifax Airport, Nova Scotia. They have been told to go away and come back with a full Canadian class 1A license. Is this because the TWP states that you cannot take any paid vocational training? So officially do you have to be FULLY qualified upon landing for a TWP to be issued??. .. .........
