I would not think they would have a problem with tattos.
When i saw Eric from Big Freight last week, all he said about them was that if you had some, you would need an aids test with your medical, and made some remark about lots of drivers here haveing them  .

I guess it depends on the company, what tatoos you have and where they are. Nothing has ever been said to me and i have one on each fore arm. I dont think it affects the immigration side of things at all.

Having said that...................

If i was plastered with tatoos then i would wear a long sleeved shirt at the interview, keep the things covered up and only talk about them if they ask. There again i would do that if i was dealing with a UK employer anyway.

Its just common sense, some employers might not like them so hide them.

Doesn't seem to make much difference with the companies but you will be charged extra for your pr medicals.

I've got Tattoo's, and my better half has one too. As long as they are not on your face/neck/hands/scalp then I don't see the problem.

I would think discrimination is just as much against the law in Canada as it is in the UK?

AIDS test?? Why don't you go down to the GUM clinic and ask for a full check up. They give you an AIDS test there, ask to see if you can have the printed results. That way it wont cost any extra.

I would have thought they would have tested you for AIDS and other diseases even if you had no tattoo's? After all, if you like to get up close and personal with the broke back mountain brigade then I'm sure you would need a test too...

and Englishtrucker who was asking about Aids :?: , that i know i Haven`t got, but maybe BSE or foot & mouth will have to see

Cypry0 mentioned AIDS in his post above. He said that if you have Tattoos then you have to have an AIDS test as part of your PR medical.

But if you go to the di*k doctors, they give you a full check up and ask if you want an AIDS test too. The service is free. It's not very pleasant though!!

I applied to join Thames Valley Police a few years ago. I got rejected because I have tattoos. I was furious. I wrote a letter to the officer responsible for rejecting my application and accused her of discrimination. She said they might offend certain elements of our community!!!!

I was good enough to serve my country for eight years in the Army, but not good enough to be a copper because of my tattoos. The guy in the Post Office when I posted the application Special Delivery said I was the "wrong colour", and he was Indian. So that tells you everything about our lovely country. There loss though...

I have tats & piercings and was told by other drivers that PR medical would cost more but none of it was mentioned on medical, I paid same as other drivers and had no extra tests.
