Usually before the end of a pilot project, they set up a small team to gather info, just to see if it had been a worthwhile project...how many people actually applied and were granted, etc etc.
And in some cases they extend it for another year, and in some they make it a permanent feature. Obviously sometimes they do axe it aswell...

Maybe they will extend this one, since its only been its first year? who knows...

Hopefully they will extend it, but as of yesterday the info was that it is definitely finishing in August, and I know that the value of the wives work permit was the ONLY reason some people could afford to make the commitment to move their families over to Canada, and in particular, Alberta where the scheme was set up.

Also, it was being done in Manitoba several years ago. Nominees wives were, and still are, able to get open WPs.

Nominees wives could always get a work permit , It was the time before you got nominated they would refuse you.

In Alberta there is now a 11 month wait now for PNP nomination , So anyone coming to Alberta don't expect PR for a few years, As it could take 18 months just to get your PNP , Then the PR process as to start.

Sorry, didnt realise the AINP was specifically for truckers Graham......

And if I had given up, I would'nt still be looking at the forum.

Anyway, I asked for proof because isnt it better to add some hard evidence to a claim so onlookers can know for definate if its true? I think so.

Silly question, but.......for the wives/girlfriends who already have a permit, when this scheme fianally finishes does their permit end as well?
It was one of the main reasons we were looking at Alberta, the wife didn't like the idea of being stuck at home and not being able to work while i was away.
Not that it makes any difference to us at the moment, we're unfortunately here for the foreseeable future, but it might make a big difference to others?
