Hi Fland

I was in the Flying J at Napanee on Wednesday night and thought you had bought a new truck, Nice big Pete in REM colours opposite me in the parking Lot.

This week I picked up a load of lumber in pittsfield, maine to deliver in Pembroke Ontario. Daylight and through the woods of Maine and the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont...

Tarping was not much fun, it was kinda breezy and no place to be found without wind... But, I gotta say I did a nice job, it was a nice square load though...

Picture after untarping in Pembroke...

Pictures of the woods and mountains are not very special but you might be able to imagine I had a great time with that half load of lumber... It's way nicer driving with 45.000 lbs instead of the heavy 68.000 lbs flakeboard I use to have. Next two months however, the loads will be smaller due to weightrestrictions during thaw period...

Great pics as usual 8) . I guess the restriction on weights will mean more loads which can only be good :D .

If the photo is on your pc then you can 'upload attachment' in the new post section, click browse to view the relevant folder and choose your photo. No need to use photobucket at all.

It gives more loads, you're right about that. But there's also shippers that wait with the shipment untill after the restrctions are gone again... But still, that would mean we're having extra loads in two months from now...

Another thing to be aware of is that at the scales in New Brunswick there's no tolerance during weight restriction. 40.000 pounds is 40.000 pounds and not 40.650... Just something to keep an eye on...

I spent all weekend in Toronto... Fland wasn't too happy about that but when there's no load, well, then there isn't a load. Picked up in Sarnia Monday morning, it was called a machineparts...

THIS would probably be a smarter choice, moneywise... It would do the job just as well, be much better on fuel and is 40.000 dollar cheaper... Or maybe more...

So what's the price "on the road" mate?

I've been shopping around...

The Harley Davidson is going for around 145.000 CAD with 485HP Cummins. About 9.000 more with a 550 HP...

Sorry mate, but that's not my sort of truck. It's too streamlined and has angle bits plastered all over it. Give me a big square rig!!

Great photo's Fland. How come drivers seem to leave half a mile of gap between trucks in the States/Canada but in Europe they are trying to open your back doors with their front bumper?

Also, why do you need 10,000 LED rear lights on your trailer mate???

A big item right now is the future of the square nosed trucks... Just like in Europe it's all about fuel-efficiency these days...

They only leave a half mile gap when there's lots of space... No gaps in the busy area's...

And these LED lights... Well, you need to have three lights in the center of the trailer and you need at least one at each side and a turn signal and brake lights... That added together makes about 10,000...

What's with the rolling eyes smilley Fland? My attempt of English Humour obviously failed!

No, it did not... It was probably my Dutch Humour that didn't pick the right smiley...

But maybe you were getting close... Every led light has got several smaller leds in there... Let's say about 48 leds per led light times eleven is... well, must be close to 10,000... 8)
